[Poems] From Spark to Fire

Penned by Yashika Singh (Pune)

The clock was ticking, pages she turned

Being present and absent, in desperation she burned

She wore her screen more than twice or thrice

But no message arrived. “I want him at any price.”

Infused with anger, the call outgoing

To burn her, a spark was waiting

“It’s all over, we are no more together.”

A heartbreak incoming, she was blown like a feather.

There she stood, in an ocean of love,

A hole in her heart and a tempest above.

Blood rolled down her cheeks, enough to crimson the entire sea

Embracing eternal sleep was the only solution she could see.

“Why was I betrayed? Is it wrong to fall in love?”

No. To love and serve is an inbuilt propensity, but it needs direction.

A hope dawned as a lighthouse showed her the way,

“Leave the spark and look for the fire,” did the lightman say.

Krishna himself, the source of all LOVE, is that fire

How foolish! In fire’s presence, looking for sparks to admire.

Krishna’s love has disappointment as much as sugar in the ocean

He has perfect reciprocation, beyond any love potion.

His love is unconditional and unending,

Is this true love? Or roses’, bouquets’, chocolates’ and teddies’ sending.

There is still time to fix this misdirected love which creates a fuss,

Krishna is ever-ready and ever-waiting for us.

To love and serve Him are we born,

Not, for a thousandth time, to move on.
